Ever since I was inspired by a vintage pearl collar I saw while perusing online, I just knew that I had to make one myself. This neckpiece was made last year and remains one of the most time consuming jewelry project that I've undertaken. After two days of tediously stringing these 1,500+ beads, I was exhausted but relieved. Needless to say, I did not want to work with pearl beads again for a long, long time.
I was lucky enough to find a beautiful gold flower clasp to finish the piece. What I also love is that I'm able to reverse it and wear it in either direction, whether as 'peter pan' collar (as shown above), or as a full, rounded collar when reversed.
As many of you can guess, I am completely smitten over lace/ vintage collars. Hopefully I can get around to showing you some of the other collars I have made or acquired over the past year. I'm glad that I opted to make my own pearl collar instead of buying one. I find that things have so much more meaning when they are hand-crafted and made from the heart :)
